Batch File Help
« on: May 06, 2012, 03:52:20 pm »

OK, OK,  I know I should know how to do this, but........

I've written some code that fires events based on a FD tone drop over the police scanner.  From this, I get certain PLC's sent from my cm15.  It also launches a shoutcast server over my LAN.  What I want to do is have the PLC activate a batch file on another computer to open firefox to 192.168.0.241:5000.  This way, the sound input on one computer can be heard on other machines around the house, triggered by an x10 code.  (could also use an x10 controller to do the same).

Here's the question,  can I use PCC or some other tuicemen software to launch a batch file upon x10 code detection?
I know you can sort of do this with an AHP macro, but that option is a known flake.

Someone want to take my hand and walk me through this?

PCC can respond to and trigger a windows command based on a number of triggers.
it can even open firefox to your address.
a x10 computer interface isn't even needed on that machine if you have your home network linked with X10relayer.

You could send a windows command to triger a home network command so all PCC instances opened your webpage.

You'll need to create a usercommand to open firefox to the address.
this new user command now becomes a PCC commandline argument.
you can trigger it using the x10triggers if you wish( a restat is needed before PCC will see it as a option)
if you copy this user command to your other PCC instances then they will all have that option.
If you only want one PCC instance to have that option just create the usercommand on that PC.
