Basic Help
« on: June 08, 2017, 10:52:00 am »

Help!, I have been trying to get Alex10 going with no luck. I have tried many times no go. The messages I get is can not find ha-bridge and check to make sure java is installed which both are. Also How do I start the brigde . Any ideas on how to get me going would be great. I am using Windows 10 along with a CM15A and a echo dot.

You can manually start the bridge from inside the alex10 folder.
1: click on the ha-bridge.jar file.
2: open your browser and in the address bar type in localhost

Something has changed with either the last ha-bridge build or with a Windows update.
I suspect a windows security update as Alex10 hasn't changed, however I too get the message your seeing if I try to start the bridge from inside Alex10.
Interestingly if you set Alex10 to autostart the bridge it sees it and starts it on an Alex10 start. ::) :`)

Thank you for your quick reply. I will try your suggestions today and will let you know if all goes well. I was wondering as this is a new laptop if I should update windows 10.  Also the browser I am using is chrome so I should be ok with that. Ok Mr. T have a great weekend and thanks for all of your hard work.

I'd definitely update to the newest Windows 10 version but that's my opinion.
Resources are handled much better with 10.
There have been issues reported with the ha-bridge and Chrome but I believe those were fixed. HA-Bridge can be used in the Windows Edge browser as well

Hello Mr T.
I did what you suggested and the bridge starts and then a message appears that says Alex10 has stopped running will report this to microsoft. I can say I am getting closer to getting this to work. Also when I try to open the bridge it will not open. What comes up is a choice of apps to open the bridge such as internet explorer or chrome, so I click on either but no go. I hope I am not being pita but I really want this to work

Clicking on the HA-Bridge.Jar file will not open anything it just starts the server (HA-Bridge). To see the bridge UI you must  use (open) a browser and navigate to your PCs IP (localhost).
With the Bridge started starting Alex10 should not cause a issue.
Not sure why Alex10 would stop responding unless the settings saved conflict with the bridge settings. ???
if you can zip up the Alex10 data folders contents and send it to me(email).
I'll have a look and see if there is any corruption or conflicting info in the settings files. (Chr)

I'm sure it is just a simple thing preventing it from working.
I never did get your email ??? ::) :`)
However if you wish to go a different route and there are many, best of luck.
