ITead Sonoff RF smart switch
« on: March 22, 2017, 01:28:55 pm »

In January I ordered two Sonoff RF smart switches and finally got them couple of weeks ago. Mr. T i read your post in Itead forum about connecting with Alexa.
Today I tried to link with EWeLink on my iphone. But keep getting passward error. After about 12 tries gave up. Downloaded the latest app. Still same problem. Any ideas?

The Sonoff modules are a pain to get working with the itead app I suspect using their Alexa skill will be no different.
I and dHouston asked about the ability to connect Wi-Fi locally over at year ago their response was basically to flash and use some other firmware.
This is basically what I've done as I got tired of the wait game.
I remember you had to request a password and it came via text message. I had to request about 5 passwords before one took.
The other issue is if you fail to use regularly you'll need to request a new password as it will forget you.

Agreed although flashing the modules is far easier then it looks or sounds.
Also once you flash with a new firmware it remembers you as logon info is stored on the device not in the cloud.

I suspect if you were using the Sonoff Alexa skill it wouldn't forget you as you'd most likely use it regularly, that may also help with the app. Though I suspect you'd need to initially setup devices with the app prior to using the skill however I could be wrong.

itead has announced some of their modules now have local control.
I have one Sonoff basic which I never Flashed so I downloaded the newest app.
After several attempts I finally got my old Sonoff connected (was assigned to a different account)
I did the firmware update for the module and have the Alexa skill working for it.
I've yet to discover how to do local control  >:( but if it is indeed possible  then control via the HA-Bridge will be possible.
