Alexa Camera control?
« on: March 15, 2017, 02:07:28 pm »

Today I finally got my new Airsight xx51a mjpeg camera coded to work with Alex10. ~:0~ :0~
I could previously view just not move to presets or move with the pan & tilt.
This new code may allow other cameras not previously controllable to now be. ??? ::) :`)
So I'm wondering ???
Just how many users would actually be interested in this option, and where you may wish this to progress?
Maybe added to a macro so a trigger would move to a preset?
A macro to start/stop recording?
Simple snapshots?
Just voice control of specific functions? Maybe beyond what is currently coded?

I don't wish this to get into a full camera monitoring/control software but some alexa control beyond what is currently available may be a nice add.

I only use IP cams and would like voice command to bring up live video of cam called by name,  on screen and then voice control the movement as well.

Mr. T , it is a pleasure to be on your forum and use your innovations.  (Chr)

Thanks, I'm glad to have you participating in the improvements of the innovations! ;>
I'm not planning on adding support for more then one camera with Alex10.
Original plan was to have control of one X10 Airsight.
However I do like the Idea of calling the camera by name and Alex10 open a separate window displaying it.
Since the voice moving is already in place there would be not much extra work for this.
Alexa "Start Driveway Camera"
Alexa "Stop Driveway Camera"
 :0~
This can be done now with the bridge.(with some fiddling)
It is possible to create a html page with links to all your cameras and have the Alex10 controllable one larger.

I'll play with some Ideas. :)!

Today I managed to get my Airsight XX70A working with Alex10 so the XX69A should as well.
In fact most H264 type cameras should would work. ~:0~ `:)
The HD camera picture in the settings page doesn't update like it does for the Mjpeg cameras :-[ but I added a refresh button to refresh the screen. I'll continue to attempt to remedy this as testing pan& tilt or pre-sets is difficult currently this way.
Once I get a pop up window created it should refresh like the Mjpeg cameras  ??? ::) :`) (at least it is in my tests)  :)!

I've added a separate sizeable Camera View page which can be displayed with a button press from the Main UI. It will display the currently configured Alex10 Camera this will require some additional setup of your camera in the Advanced Settings for current users
Camera settings will get a separate tab now in Advanced settings to allow room for the extra and future options.
Update:
HD picture now refreshes like or better then MJpeg camera pics. `:) ~:0~

Great. Keep up the good work. (Chr)
I have been using Foscam for few years. But since Foscam US split up with their suppliers in China, customer service has gone and i need to replace few of these cams for power supply and wifi connection problems but i can't get dependable service. Seems like will have to find other dependable brand.
I had started with Airsight. It too has connectivity problem and need to be wire connected. And also lost $300 dollars because X10 went under when my cam order was in process.
Any preference for other brand?

Thanks,
I've only tried Foscam, Airsight and Easyn I had Wi-Fi issues with each however to be fair I Believe the issue was my router 90% of the time. One Easyn lost wifi completely even if right beside the router but still works wired.
Airsights seem to have better color then my others and I have both the Mjpeg and H264 outdoor types and actualy like the Mjpeg version better.
I only have the XX51A (indoor Mjpeg) so I can't compare it to the XX69A(indoor H264)
For good feed back on other Wi-Fi cameras I'd look at a dedicated Camera forum maybe one like ispy.
However if your looking for cameras compatible with my software I'd look to the new Airsights as the support for them will be there.

Two Foscams, one MJpeg and one HD 256, worked for a year or two without problem and were updated as the updates became available. But few months back they would only work with wire. Last week, just on impulse, I reset both to factory setting and now both are back on wifi. I have three more but they can be done only in good temperature. so shall see.

Wow, my 5+ year old Foscams have been very dependable thought they are both indoor cams.
Sadly one is starting to lose its picture but it is in harsh conditions for a indoor camera as it is at the cottage that has long periods of no heat.
I also had an older Airsight outdoor which failed totally but feel it was due to my mounting location which caused it to over heat in the summer.
Given that most all IP cams are manufactured in China and from the same 1 or 2 factories you would think they would perform the same. ??? ::) :`)  or at least components would stand up the same.
